Short-Bio
Study of „Animal Biology and Biomedical Sciences“ at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover (TiHo), degree Master of Science obtained in 2016. In 2020, she completed her PhD titled "Design, Evaluation and Application of Hydrogel Waveguides for Optogenetics" at the Hannover Medical School (MHH) within the REBIRTH Excellence Cluster.
Sonja Johannsmeier has been working as a research associate at Laser Zentrum Hannover e. V. since 2016.
From 2020 to 2024, she led the Biophotonics Group in the Biomedical Optics Department, and in 2025, the Environmental and Hygiene Engineering Group. Since 2026, she has been heading the Communication Department.
